Therapeutic Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is the manipulation of soft tissues of the body including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints. Massage therapy is a clinically-oriented healthcare option that helps alleviate the discomfort associated with everyday occupational stresses, muscular over-use and both acute and chronic conditions. People use massage to help relax and to relieve pain. It can also relieve muscle tension and may improve blood flow, relieve pressure on nerves, and restore normal joint movement.
Massage therapy should only be provided by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT), who are licensed primary healthcare providers in Ontario. RMTs assess and treat physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissue and joints of the body, mostly by hands-on manipulation. RMTs work with a wide variety of patients in the treatment of illness, injury rehabilitation and disability.

About TCM
What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) was originated in ancient China and has a history of over two thousand years. Influenced by ancient Chinese philosophy, culture, and science and technology, Chinese medicine uses the theory of Yin and Yang and the theory of Wu Xing to explain the mechanism of balancing the function of the body. Western medicine focuses mainly on treating disease. But TCM looks at your entire well-being, preventative disease and delay aging. TCM is using different modalities in treating as a whole includes Chinese herbs, acupuncture, guasha, cupping, tuina (massage) and moxabution.
Clinical Acupuncture
TCM acupuncture is a holistic alternative natural therapy that is used to improve well-being. Tiny, hair-thin metallic needles are inserted into specific points along the energy pathways called meridians by a variety of techniques to prevent and treat a wide range of health problems. It is proven to be an effective, safe alternative and complementary to medication or even surgery for a variety of conditions and ailments. The practice is based on how energy, or qi, flows through the body along a series of channels called meridians – similar to the way nerves and vessels carry messages and blood throughout every system.
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine TCM theory, each pathway of its meridian is related to a specific organ, and placing thin needles at certain points along these meridians can effect certain changes in the body to restore homeostasis. Placement along the meridians is believed to cause reactions like sending more blood or lymphatic fluid to specific organs or allowing muscles to release in a way that reduces tension on joints and bones. The needles may also stimulate nerves and tweak nervous system regulation to result in a relaxation response, which relieves pain. Acupuncture is well-known for pain management. It is also thought to stimulate the immune system and control inflammation. Two effects that can bring benefits throughout the body.
